Teal Pumpkin Event

Join the Lewis County Autism Coalition for our annual Teal Pumpkin Event on Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 4:00–7:00 PM at the Veterans Memorial Museum in Chehalis.

This free, family-friendly Halloween event is designed to offer a safer, more accessible, and less overwhelming trick-or-treat experience for children and families of all abilities.

The Teal Pumpkin Project helps create a more inclusive Halloween by offering non-food treats and activities, making participation easier for children with food allergies, dietary restrictions, disabilities, sensory differences, or other needs that can make traditional Halloween events difficult.

If you participated last year, you may remember that unexpected rain forced much of the event indoors. While we were grateful to still gather together, the tighter space created a more crowded and stimulating environment than the sensory-friendly experience we work so hard to provide.

This year, we are being especially intentional about the environment itself. The event will take place in the museum’s spacious covered front area, giving families more room to move, less crowding, and protection from our unpredictable October weather. The museum’s indoor event center will also be available as a weather backup if needed.

We learned from last year, and we are working hard to create an experience that feels calmer, more comfortable, and more accessible for everyone.

Our goal is simple: more space, less overwhelm, and plenty of Halloween fun.

Families can expect a festive and welcoming atmosphere with non-food treats, accessible activities, costumes, community partners, and opportunities for children to participate in ways that feel comfortable for them. There is no expectation that a child speak, wear a costume, move through the event quickly, or participate in every activity.

Want to Help Make the Event Special?

We are inviting local businesses, organizations, agencies, clubs, and community partners to participate by hosting a table or activity during the event. If you need a table, just let us know!

If you would like to participate, please complete our Teal Pumpkin Participation Form so we can plan the space and event layout appropriately.

HOST A TABLE / PARTICIPATE!

We are also seeking event sponsors and donated items to help us provide a fun, welcoming experience for local families. If hosting a table or sponsoring the event is not possible, we would still be grateful for donations of non-food treats, small toys, sensory items, craft supplies, decorations, or other event materials.

Every contribution helps us create a Halloween experience where more children can comfortably participate and feel included.
