Eligible children can be screened for autism and have a team to support their success!
SMART (School-Medical Autism Review Team)
Who’s SMART?
SMART was initially developed and piloted by the Lewis County Autism Coalition in collaboration with state partners.
The SMART team pulls teachers and medical professionals together to work as a team for children on the autism spectrum. Connecting the dots between a variety of professional opinions can be confusing for anyone. These professionals can provide an autism screening and refer you to the best services (including ABA – Applied Behavior Analysis) to support a child’s success in school and life. Your local SMART team is supported by Northwest Pediatrics (an Autism Center of Excellence) and can provide a local diagnosis of autism.
For more information or an appointment contact Nikki Young at (360) 736-6778. See links below to access the SMART forms and tools.

The SMART Safety Net in Southwest Washington
SMART was developed by the Lewis County Autism Coalition. There are independent SMART teams in Skagit, Island, and Whatcom counties, with programs planned for Grays Harbor, Chelan, Douglas, and Pacific counties.
For more information on SMART, please visit the Washington State Medical Home Partnership project at:
School and Medical Autism Review Team (SMART)
The SMART program provides services close to home and creates a comforting safety net between families, primary care providers, and school teachers. Evaluations are shared, leading to more support for ASD children from people who know them best.
